this is really funny to me

I hate commercials with a passion. at the same time, I adore a really funny, good commercial that gets the point across.

below is a really funny commercial. please watch (it's only 40 seconds). I had NO idea where this was going or what it was an ad for until the last 3 seconds.

I'll do a post later of some of my favorite commercials! that will be fun

romantic comedies = ruins life

I completely agree w/ this report that says romantic comadies can be hazardous to your lovelife/ruin your relationship. they create unrealistic standards and ideals and then if/when you compare your relationship to them, real life always seems inferior. chuck klosterman had it right. this chick had it right a year ago.

god, I hate it in movies when they see each other or meet each other and then after 1 hour they're like "i love you." fuck that noise. I'm talking to you,

Notting Hillhe (normal bookkeeper) spills coffee on her (famous actress) and she goes to his house and then immediately kisses him? give me a fuckin break

and

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Daysbar bet that falls perfectly into place? falling in love after 10 days? stopping a taxi on the brooklyn bridge? changing of hair from straight to curly to coincide with the falling in of the love? OVER IT.

although I do watch French Kiss whenever it's on tv. in its entirety. don't judge me.

one day in the future I'll make a feminism 101 post about how disney movies fuck up children, too. (I love you Little Mermaid, but how the fuck you gonna tell little girls that they only way to get their man and fall in love is to give up their voice and only use their body? so messed up)

ps let's make a list of good realistic relationship movies.
1. American Graffitti
2. High Fidelity (wait is this a fake-real relationship movie?)
3. Annie Hall
4. idk any more post your contribution

pps kd remember when you were dating starfish and you were like "come over and we'll bake cookies and watch love actually" and he was like "you're moving too fast."

I think this actually looks funny

this looks funny to me. but of course, I'll see anything w/ anyone from freaks and geeks in it

it seems that paul rudd is leaning toward the whole "can do no wrong thing." which I agree w/. but I hope it doesn't turn into a tina fey-esque backlash.

katy perry: the in's and the out's.

so katy perry has had her bug-eyed face all over the tabloids for a few good months now despite having now talent and looking like an injured baby bird onstage. i would completely dismiss her as a one-hit wonder who wears wayyy too much make-up and tries wayyyy to hard, but there is one thing about her that i'm interested in: her wardrobe. sometimes it's pretty bad, but sometimes it's pretty good. i think a lot of the things she wears are really different to what other celebs are going for at the moment, which gets points, and also everything is very kitch, which i am into. i feel like her biggest fashion faux paus is not knowing how to pull off a good piece, i.e. she over accessorizes a lot.
here is an example:

this dress is amazing. it's a flattering cut and quirky and interesting by itself (the detail of the playing cards in the belt, maybe beaded? is nice). there is no need for cheap dice-jewelry or a playing card headband! they take away from the dress and make it look like a costume or a gimmick

But like all celebs, most of this is the work of a stylist. his name is Johnny Wujek. I looked at his website and everything is pretty vanity fair classy, surprising considering how niche katy's styling is.
here are some outfits:

ehhhh... you are over doing it again.

i would wear this everyday.

v. classy.

oh my.

safe clothes

i'm feeling the classy simplicity of these clothes but in a non-douchey-tommy hillifiger-i-am-rich-but-dress-caz(ual) type way

and check out the fake pregnant belly. debwa loves pretending to be knocked up.

oh and also i read that the designer, rebecca turbow, wore only white and turquoise mod clothing for 6 years. that's really fucking sweet.

it's beginning to look a lot like christmas...

yesterday home alone was on tv. debwa loves macaulay! so what if he's 10? i had a wide on for him when the movie came out, and i still do; that's devotion. here are some good christmas films to watch if you want to feel festive/ didn't have a childhood and have never seen them (larry):

1. elf
2. home alone
3. home alone 2 (but NOT 3)
3. batman returns (it's not really a christmas movie but it happense during christmas/ new years)
4. nightmare before christmas
5. edward scissor hands (again it happens at christmas, does tim burton have a christmas issue?)
6. a muppet christmas carol (way better than a non-muppet one)
7. babes in toyland. kitsch classic.
8. how the grinch stole christmas, the animated one, of course.
9. a charlie brown christmas.
10. the snowman. sad and i love him.

tight tight tights

debwa loves tights.

mhmm mhmm love them love them (esp the solid back. debwa is v. into that look)

yes yes I see what you're doing there and I like it.

mhmm mhmm very nice, like the thigh-highs w/ spike heel

and my absolute faves, the dotted with hearts tights on the left! idk why but I lurve them.

o hai hello kitty hospital

I read about this a while ago somewhere but didn't see any pictures. now there are pictures, and it's so much better.

a hello kitty hospital just opened in Yuanlin, Taiwan. and while it has v. good intentions,

Director Tsai Tsung-chi said . . . "I wish that everyone who comes here, mothers who suffer while giving birth and children who suffer from an illness, can get medical care while seeing these kitties and bring a smile to their faces, helping forget about discomfort and recover faster," he told Reuters.

the pictures just make me kinda creeped out! I'm into having not-stark-white walls at a hospital, but the picture below of the woman in a hospital bed w/ the hello kitty comforter just makes me think of a 9 yr old girl's sleepover. but maybe thats the point.

and for you who really, truly love hello kitty, to the point of a wedding dress . . .

icons are made, not born

this is cool to look at: "icons are made, not born" -- we are used to modern hollywood makeovers (I'm talking to you, j. lo), but here are some classic beautiful actresses befores and afters.

Some of the crazier ones to me:

grace kelly

faye dunaway

bridgette bardot

and of course, the obvious one (marilyn monroe)

peroxide and a nose job for everyone!

I don't know what a velociraptor is, but I could last for over a minute!

I could survive for 1 minute, 6 seconds chained to a bunk bed with a velociraptor
