inconsistencies and paul&joe

I'm pretty sure Paul& Joe is known for it's classic yet chic french style, with a bit a whimsical twist thrown if for good meausre (and usually a bit more of that in the diffusion sister line, but that's a good thing. Their current season delivers the goods with some solid classic pieces that could be revisited year after year, but some of it is utter shit - maybe they were trying to please a wider audience from young LA coke heads to the hip and fashionable (us) to trendy moms at a sunday brunch.

hello, i'm the world's most generic top. you may remember me from your wardrobe circa 2001.

and this is my sister, inoffensive dress casual skirt

ignore the horrible urban outfitters model, this is the world's loveliest dress with crazy smocking in front and long row of covered buttons down the back. it will be mine.

more of things like this please

this is far too boho for my tastes

sorry, but I can make my own twisted sister t-shirt dresses

please god, i need this jersey biker jacket, but not in white because i WILL get spaghetti sauce all over it, even if i'm not eating spaghetti, or in at dinner...

dw dw dw

peter philip's, the genius behind chanel (their global creative director) has brought out another perfect collection: paris-shanghai. matte black and shimmering gold -- I love it.

here's what "the cut"(one of my favorite sites) has to say:
Illusion D’or is a clear polish with subtle gold sparkles (looks mores intense in the bottle), while Gold Lamé has a sexy coppery feel. Unlike its sister Black Satin, Black Velvet is the polar opposite, in an inky matte black. Simply put, Ligne et Ombre de Chanel (matte black eyeliner and sparkly gold shadow) is absolutely stunning.

melt daisy

i just found out about this label called sretsis (sisters backwards (how come when i try to think of cool things to name by spelling it backwards i feel like a lame 11 year old making secret codes and when other people do it some how works and seems cool?)) and basically i want ALL the clothes. observe:

I am way into the detail put into all the pieces, sorry these images are a bit low res, like tiny daisies on the leggings and sunglasses. I'm also digging the lolita vibe, which i think is both cutsey but also a bit defiant. like this:

Here is an interview and more of the collection but i keep seeing other looks here and there, can't seem to pin down the whole thing. it's called 'make my heart melt' FYI.

how to model by jessica stam and terry richardson

okay that's not really the name of the video -- it's a short about the new aldo campaign ft. jessica stam that terry richardson shot

but for some reason I love watching videos of models (modeling) for print ads. and this one doesn't disappoint (well if you're not into watching models it's pretty boring, but I like it)

perfect for the lazy outfit-chooser

I am too poor for an iphone. but if I did have one, I would definitely download this ingenious app.
based on the weather of where you are (it determines it from a gps) and what type of event you're going to (movie night in, date night out, work), it suggests an outfit (all of which you can buy, of course, we DO live in a capitalistic society). but hey, if you're lazy like me, you can just see an adorable outfit suggestion and then match it to your own closet! I'm into it.

as if.

In her fashion Q&A column for the guardian, writer Hadley Freeman chose to respond to a question regarding fashion in the 90s;
Why do clothes from the previous decade look about a million times weirder and more old fashioned than clothes from, say, the 70s, or even the 40s?

She basically answered that 'people in the 90s dressed like crap' because people had 'simply no taste at all.' and then adds rather nonchallantly, that this holds true even for music; 'any decade that hosted 2Unlimited, The Crash Test Dummies and 4 Non-Blondes has lost its right to voice any kind of opinion whatsoever, Nirvana Schmirvana' (read the whole article here)

i don't think this woman thinks through a lot of the things she says and this isn't the first time i've disagreed with her. no, i'm not a HUGE fan of 90s fashion, the jeans were pretty bad for one, and i don't feel very good about scrunchies. But to say people weren't interested in fashion? Um, sorry but wasn't this the decade of the super models Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Tyra Banks, Claudia Schiffer, and Linda Evangelista? Oh yeah, those guys. the ninties were a decade of 'anti-fashion', yes, but that doesn't mean that people weren't fashionable. a lot of iconic looks surfaced during this time, but not only that THEY ARE BACK IN FASHION TODAY. Doc Martens are hugely popluar at the moment. as are mid-drift tops, cut off shorts, leather jackets, leggings, denim jackets, platforms, knee-high boots, booties, and flannel (plaid) shirts. what about the fresh prince, 90210, my so called life, clarissa explains it all, GRACE FUCKING JONES??

from topshop.com

and don't even talk to me about music. really. you are a fool.

yes please

I am way into this clutch. I am not tough enough to really carry brass knuckles, so this would fufill my yearning to be a badass and it's functional, too!

Alexander McQueen Knuckle Duster Patent Leather Clutch

and what a steal at $1595. definitely feasible at my $12/hr salary.

tranny's first night out circa 1983

holy fucking scrunchies, what the fuck is happening here?? This is HANDS DOWN the worst outfit i have ever experienced in my life, everything about it is wrong from top to tacky, shitty bottom. i don't even think an experimental gay 13 year old would wear this while listening to culture club in his bedroom while trying out 'the tuck' in the mirror.

All things considered though, i like the way the shades of blue Madge has chosen offset the veins BULGING out of her massive arms.
