A woman from Guatemala were lucky to escape unharmed after a pit meters wide suddenly opened beneath his bed.

Inocente Hernandez, 65, even if a gas cylinder had exploded nearby when she heard a bang in his home in Guatemala City, AFP reported.

'We ran to the investigation and did not see anything, "he said.

"A gentleman told me that the noise came from my house and we looked until we found him under my bed."

The gulf that had formed in his bedroom was 12.2 m deep and almost a meter wide.

"Thank God, only material damage, and my grandchildren running around the house in this room and the courtyard," he said.
