Computer Glitch Grounds Flights U.S. Airways
A computer glitch snarled travel plans Friday night U.S. Airways customers as reports flooded in flights to land across the country.

In a statement, the airline said it has suffered a failure of computer systems, which appeared on its Web site usairways.com airport and the airline's computer system.

Tempe, Ariz., carrier said a power failure near one of the airline's data center in Phoenix as a possible cause.

By 20:45, some computer systems at the airport was returning to the network, "and we are trying to restore order in activity", the airline said.

U.S. Airways officials could not immediately say how many flights and passengers affected.

Tina Swail airline spokesman had no information on when the interruption occurred or what she does when the problem is completely solved.

Customers were asked to check their flight status before arriving at the airport by calling U.S. Airways reservations 800-428-4322.
