Reports of Sonoma, California -

Before his tour opening practice for this year's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in California Wine Country, Kurt Busch asked his Penske Racing team grade.

Busch gives B-plus - a promising, if sometimes in difficulty, without effort gains.

That changed Sunday, when Busch and his team brought their "A" game with a dominant victory in the Toyota Mart / Store 350 at Infineon Raceway, which ended a winless streak of 38 races for the 2004 series champion.

Jeff Gordon finished second, Cup leader Carl Edwards and Clint Bowyer finished third quarter ended in front of about 93,000.

"It 'was one of the incredible day," said Busch, who led the race 110 76 rounds, earning the first road-course win a career at 10 turns, 1.99 miles Infineon course. "The car was driving."

"To win on road course is a big check mark on my list," said Busch, 32, who has 23 career wins in Cup.

For the cars behind Busch Dodge 22, however, the race was much more irregular. This is especially true for Tony Stewart and Brian Vickers, who wrote the last chapter of NASCAR "Guys, this" doctrine to try to let the drivers settle their differences.

He began to lap 37 when Stewart pressed Vickers from behind as they entered the sweeping right hand turn, sending Vickers' Toyota spinning and launching multi-car wreck that also collected Dale Earnhardt Jr., for example.

After repairing his car slammed into the back of Vickers Chevrolet Stewart in the same track 50 laps later, Stewart turning downward and backward into the stacks of tires, safety, keeping the exterior wall.

"Have I had come, because I downloaded [Vickers] in the past, but I downloaded because he had been prevented," said Stewart, twice a Cup champion, who had risen to second place behind Busch, before his fall.

"I like Brian, I do not hold for all," said Stewart. "If they want to fight, which is what happens every time."

Asked to give their version, Vickers said Stewart bluntly that "destroyed me and I have been shipwrecked," but had not initially blocked Stewart Stewart assumptions.

Never mind, "I am sure that Tony and I talked about this week" and "find the will," said Vickers. "It's just racing."

Vickers ready for the thirty-sixth in the 43-car field, and Stewart was the thirty-ninth.

Gordon, who holds the record with five victories at Infineon Cup, refused to make judgments about the Stewart-Vickers recovery, but said that overall, a relentless battle with Stewart is not wise.

"Not a man who wants to be gunning for you," said Gordon. "It can be crazy."

Busch took the lead on lap 13 and then rarely looked back, jumping in the car quickly lead to a substantial number of starts after periods of caution.

"When we got into the groove with this car, it seems to improve after round 5 or 6," said Busch. "Our cars have not done this before."

Busch leads the League Cup with 25 points ahead of Kevin Harvick, who finished ninth on Sunday and 33 points over defending champion Jimmie Johnson, who finished seventh.

The series continues at Daytona International Speedway with the Coke Zero 400 on Saturday.
