Rand: A Comparison Rubio, And T-Jack
Ricky Rubio, and Tarvaris Jackson has never had the opportunity to play in the Twin Cities, at the same time - a pity, because the two have in common professionally as you can see at first glance. With Rubio could possibly come here this summer - "deadline" to sign him, came and went Tuesday, although much remains to be clarified - and Jackson heading the other way when not offered free-agent offer from the Vikings in March, see the links between the two athletes:
Unknown quantities
The Vikings, Brad Childress that the first year in 2006, was sold in the draft to grab a little known option QB in the second round. That player, of course, was Jackson. He was incredibly raw coming out of Division I-AA, which leads to almost universal chorus of "Who is this man?" confused with "Childress had better be right."
Rubio had a higher profile by the way, when David Kahn became the focal point of your Extravaganza Guard 2009, also known as a project this year in the NBA. But it was still much more than an unknown player and intriguing - a, then 18 years with all the risks in the world, but with so many questions about if / when he came to Minnesota and just what kind of player who could be in the NBA.
Positional vertigo Albatross
With some notable exceptions, in each case, the quarterback and point guard positions was among the least settled in the twin cities of sport in recent years. The Vikings had an endless parade of veteran stopgap during the last 15 years with the exception of Daunte Culpepper and to some extent, Jackson. Timberwolves were looking for a permanent leader healthy option for a decade - a period interrupted only by a very good year for Sam Cassell (not to be confused with a very bad year Cassell).
Over before it began
Jackson had his chances - which started 19 games in 2006-08 before the route of the Vikings Brett Favre - but it seems that public opinion is almost sealed his fate when he was ready for the role. Rubio will have more freedom and more support from the fans if you come here, but there are many senior whispers coming out of Europe saying that his game has regressed.
Fates tied for second
Rightly or wrongly, Jackson has always been considered a "man Childress," and that the coach has refused to completely abandon the experiment after T-Jack does not become a quality starting QB was at least a reflection of stubbornness that ultimately helped Childress fired. Similarly, Rubin and Kahn are closely related. We sell under the Rubio's plan for two years. If it ends up being negotiated cons of spare parts or show the potential to be announced, not a good picture of Kahn.
