NBA Commissioner David Stern Hopes The Negotiations Will Take Place During The NBA Lockout

NBA Commissioner David Stern Hopes The Negotiations Will Take Place During The NBA Lockout

MIAMI - Inspired by LeBron James, David Stern, has advised its owners and the players union to "put their bargaining power in South Beach."

owners of the NBA and the Players Association will meet on Wednesday to try to move into a new employment contract with a lock to take effect July 1.

However, Stern is not the hope that both sides are close, the owners and players away and the current agreement expires June 30.

"This will be a challenge for owners and the union to get a good deal," said the commissioner of the NBA on Tuesday night before Game 1 of the final. "The question is really whether we have the courage to negotiate rather than posture."

The parties are also scheduled to meet twice, after a series of moves to Dallas next weekend.

With the league that indicates that 22 of its 30 teams lost money, the owners want to slash players' wages and benefits of the current distribution of income enjoyed by 57 to 43 players. They are looking for a 50-50, with the replacement of soft cap with an absolute maximum. The players, meanwhile, do not try to destroy the present economic system.
